We are McDonald’s UK & ROI Digital & Games agency, delivering experiences for nearly 4 million customers every day.

Our remit is incredibly varied and is focused on the Digital & Games output across the marketing team at East Finchley. We are an extension of their Marketing Team and work in an integrated fashion with our partner agencies to lead all Digital & Games activities (e.g. McDonald’s Monopoly, Winning Sips and Digital Sales promos on their My McDonald’s App) including digital, partnerships and sales promotions.

As an Account Director for the Digital & Games UK & ROI team you will be integral to delivering best in class brand engagement campaigns. You will be responsible for leading and developing key events in the UK & ROI calendar and you will be comfortable leading this from the front. From strategic development and understanding business challenges, to translating them into communication opportunities, looking at how digital and games plays a role in achieving KPI’s and connecting the McDonald’s brand with relevant audiences.

 

As the lead agency for Digital app sales promos, we take great pride in delivering engaging and high performing campaigns time after time. This role is responsible for leading Digital and Games Promotions that range from on pack into digital (in-app) and some tactical promotions such as prize draws etc that all work to build the activity we have planned on the annual calendar.  

The role will also involve mentoring and developing a team that support you day to day – helping them to grow and progress, whilst delivering projects together.

 

This includes management of: mechanic development, partner and prize pool management, legal processes (from facilitating approvals on creative work, to helping develop the promotional Terms & Conditions), developing all the promotional elements supporting the all agency group as lead agency, as well as delivering the app game play and winners comms specifically within the UK market.

General Competencies  

  • Responsible for leading the team and projects, overseeing the team from brief stage to concept development and working in partnership with the account management team, Campaign Director and / or Programme Manager through the delivery stages, supporting where necessary.
  • Collaborating with the BD and strategist where relevant to ensure the delivery of all campaigns follow the strategic vision from the outset and ensuring that lives on throughout all development phases.
  • Ability to take a step back and have a holistic view of the team and the work going through to ensure the delivery / output is the best it can be for the business and the client working with Campaign Director to ensure all running smoothly
  • Understand the client’s business to deliver best in class work on every single project for both the client and agency, inspiring your team to do the same on every brief. 

 

Client Partnership 

  • Develop strong relationships with relevant levels of the marketing team, be seen as trusted partner, demonstrating expertise in your respective area, a solution-orientated nature and renowned for delivering best in class work. 
  • Demonstrate a solid understanding of the brand and IEO sector in order to apply insight and understanding to positively impact McD's business 
  • Work with other agency partners, showcasing expertise in your respective area both on strategic and creative level. Lead the team in this area demonstrating a collaborative and mature approach to ensure the best output for the client 
  • Lead by example, demonstrate to your team the benefit of building strong client relationships and ensure they build on this daily with their respective contacts

Strategic Direction

  • Working with the BD, Planners, other partner agencies and our McDonald’s marketing clients to drive the development of strategic initiatives within the marketing calendar
  • Work with BD & Strategy on briefs to inspire the creative team and deliver best in class work  

 

Strong Account Management 

  • Provide creative and strategic marketing input into each client response 
  • Lead the team on all projects, motivating and providing support when needed. Work collaboratively with the Programme Manager & SAM throughout and support in delivery stages when required  
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written 
  • Compliment strategy by confidently writing presentations that sell in our work to the client
  • Understand campaign results using these to shape future project recommendations  

 

Project Financials 

  • Responsible for leading team monthly forecast updates with the Campaign Director, tracking and billing, ensuring these are accurate and timely, clearly communicating any changes to BD + Finance 

 

People Management 

  • Managing, enthusing and developing your direct reports and those who work with you on projects 
  • Clearly delegate appropriate responsibilities working with the programme manager and SAM to resource projects for the year 
  • Manage upwards as effectively as managing downwards 
  • Successfully conduct line report appraisals, goal setting and support your team's ongoing development through inspiration, education and coaching. 

 

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

 

You’ll currently be a strong experienced Account Director in an integrated / digital / promotional agency environment with a passion for FMCG and retail sectors. You’ll have a desire to achieve growth and will be working currently as part of a senior team.

Be calm under pressure and have excellent upwards and downwards management skills along with communication and organisational skills day to day internally and externally.

 

  • You thrive on taking ownership of your projects and delivering best-in-class executions with your teams support
  • Can confidently write presentations that sell in our work to the client complimenting the strategy where relevant
  • Able to work collaboratively as part of a team
  • Strong client management skills
  • Experience of delivering digital campaigns
  • Good business and financial acumen

  • Appreciation of great creative work and the ability to judge accordingly
  • Experience of working with promotional partners and suppliers
  • Strong IT skills (MS Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Excellent presentation skills (writing and delivering)
  • Knowledge of FMCG / retail market
  • Marketing qualifications (e.g. ISP, IDM, CIM, IPM) desirable
  • Educated to degree level (or equivalent)
