Job Title:  Senior Design Engineer (L4)

Responsibilities

 

Design and modify mechanical prototypes of consumer lifestyle goods, while maintaining mechanical feasibility and cost effectiveness; draft structural designs of products for manufacturing following a Design for Manufacturing (DFM) process, using 3D CAD modeling and other software tools; write performance requirements and design specifications for new product designs and other areas of engineering intellectual property development; communicate in written and verbal form engineering designs, technical concepts and safety aspects of products to stakeholders; confer with overseas factory engineers in coordinating production for assigned projects and recommend design modifications to eliminate product malfunctions; as subject matter expert, evaluate mechanical product designs, concepts & prototypes providing technical feedback; conduct R&D activities including research, test and analyze the feasibility of alternate product designs; develop algorithm driven 3D CAD code that improves product design process efficiency.

 

Position Requirements

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering, or a closely related field
  • 5 years of related experience
  • 5 years of experience creating and modifying 3D CAD models of parts for metal forming and plastic injection molding manufacturing processes using SolidWorks software
  • 5 years of experience testing models of components to assess feasibility or needed modifications, utilizing 3D printing and CNC fabrication
  • 5 years of experience preparing product specification documentation and technical illustration for items manufactured out of metal, plastic, and recycled materials
  • 5 years of experience designing engineering parts or components in conjunction with Industrial Designers for external clients in the lifestyle goods industry
  • 5 years of experience conferring with overseas factory engineers in coordinating production for assigned projects and recommending design modifications to eliminate malfunctions
  • 3 years of experience conducting research that analyzes the feasibility, design or performance of new mechanisms or designs
  • 1 year of experience developing algorithm driven 3D CAD code using Rhino Grasshopper 3D software

 

Must live within normal commuting distance of worksite.  Must work at office one to three days per week.

 

Salary Range: $139,000 to $143,000

The base pay range for this position is for a successful candidate within the state listed. The successful candidate’s actual pay will be based on multiple factors, such as job-related knowledge, skills, qualifications, and experience.
